Exercise and Your Brain

Your body sends messages just like your brain

There is a one-way street in my neighborhood where motorists turn down the wrong way pretty frequently. This street isn’t going to change anytime soon, but it appears a new lane of understanding is opening when it comes to exercise and your brain.

While we know that neurons in the brain activate muscles and create movement – something from which we benefit – we’re finding the reverse is also true. A study originally published in Frontiers in Neuroscience shows that using the legs, particularly in weight-bearing exercise, sends signals to the brain that are vital for the production of healthy neural cells, essential for the brain and nervous system. In other words, the pathway between the brain and the body goes both ways!

So, if you find yourself heading down a one-way street in your workout, visit or call us. LVHN Fitness offers a complimentary consultation to help you find your own perfect road to health and fitness. For more information, contact LVHN Fitness at One City Center at 484-862-3002.
