3 Tips for Surviving Winter: The days of basking in warm sunshine are gone and have been replaced by snow showers and wind chills. If you must be outdoors this winter, use these tips to keep warm until the sunshine returns:
- Layering – Keep your core body temperature intact by layering your clothing. Your base layer should be some form of moisture wicking material such as nylon or polyester (i.e. Dri-FIT sports performance shirts). The middle layer should be made of fleece or wool to hold your body heat. The outer layer should be windproof to protect you from the harsh cold.
- Protect Your Extremities – Keep your ears and head covered with a knit beanie and/or earmuffs and your neck and nose nice and toasty with a wool scarf. A simple pair of knit gloves or mittens will do just fine for your hands. And wool socks are perfect to keep your toes warm and snug as they trek through snow, ice, and slush.
