When the Golden Rule goes askew, the result is micro-aggressions. These are comments or behaviors that negatively target a marginalized group of people. Micro-aggressions are not “micro” or minor; they are a form of discrimination where many people don’t realize their words or actions are harmful. This training session, led by licensed, professional counselor Sajeda Bhallo, clinical manager at Preferred EAP, will help attendees understand and eliminate micro-aggression and instead develop healthy interactions. The session includes:
• An explanation and examples of micro-aggressive behaviors
• How best to respond (and be an upstander!) if you are a recipient or bystander of this behavior
• How to respond if you are the person making micro-aggressive statements
• Ways to cultivate healthy conversations and diversity dialogues
