May 12, 2016, Allentown, Pa – Populytics’ Director of Health Promotion and Wellness Carol Michaels, MPH, MCHES, has been selected for the 2016 Lehigh Valley Business’ Forty Under 40 recognition.
Michaels, along with 39 young Lehigh Valley professionals who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence, and to the community, will be honored at this year’s Forty Under 40 Awards Ceremony and Reception on June 13 at Hotel Bethlehem.
Michaels is an accomplished champion of health promotion and wellness in the Lehigh Valley. She has been instrumental in enhancing the service offerings of BeneFIT Corporate WellnessSM , and transforming it into the region’s foremost provider of programs, education, and outreach for employee worksite wellness, and community health awareness and engagement.
A Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), Michaels has over 12 years’ experience addressing health issues in youth and adults, ranging from federal National Institutes of Health (NIH) programs to grass-roots community initiatives. She earned her Master of Public Health degree, with a concentration in community health, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa.
Michaels’ professional achievements and accomplishments include being named one of 16 health professionals in the U.S. to earn Certified Professional qualification from the Intel-GE Care Innovations Validation Institute. She is also Lean Certified from Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Department of Organizational Effectiveness, and has been a nominee for the Haney Founders Award for her leadership in the community and in the Eastern Pennsylvania Healthcare Executive Network, the local chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Lehigh Valley.
Michaels is an active volunteer taking on many roles in the community. She serves on the Advisory Board, East Stroudsburg University Lehigh Valley Center–Health Services; Board of Directors, Valley Preferred Cycling Center; Committee Member, Safe Haven of the Lehigh Valley, and in multiple positions at Palmer Township Moravian Church.
